the south end of Lake Dalrymple Road. This 700 acre property is part of a network of nature reserves encompassing nearly 8,000 acres. Geologically Dalrymple is finger lake formed in the last ice age by retreating glaciers. It is an unusual example of southern Ontario lakes in that it is on a lime stone base at the south end and the granite bedrock of the Canadian Shield at the north. The southern lake is spring fed, in late stage, and on a limestone base. It is gradually silting in, and is quite marshy in areas. Granite outcroppings of the Canadian Shield form the shoreline at the north end of the lower lake where it drains into the Black River. Local Road Map
