If you are interested in participating as a volunteer Marshal for Festival 2012 we would like to hear from you

Our Marshals play an important and very satisfying role in helping to create a great festival experience for our many participants. If you would be willing to volunteer a few hours of your time, please review the

Role of Festival Event Marshal:

The primary role of the Event Marshall is to take the burden of organization and emergencies off the Event Leader, who should be free to give each participant in the event a satisfying experience.
Event Marshall should arrive 30 minutes prior to the scheduled event time to meet with the Grand Marshall for last minute instructions and details. The Grand Marshall (Tom Wilson) will be located by the Welcoming tent. Event times may not be changed.

Each event Marshall will receive a list of all persons registered for their event.
The Event Marshall will be given a sign with Event Identification.
15 minutes prior to the Event, the Marshall will
  • display the sign in the Marshalling area inside the snow fence and
  • assemble all registrants and
  • arrange for a car pool to the event site and
  • introduce the event leader.
  • In the event the Marshall does not have a cell phone, make sure that someone in the group does & ensure the Grand Marshal has the phone number, if not, speak to the Grand Marshall about alternative communication arrangements.
At the prescribed time, the car pool shall proceed to the event site.
At the event site, make sure that all cars are off the roadway, and do not block entrances to fields or driveways.

The Marshall should always be cognizant of the exact location, by 911 number in case of emergency.
Should an emergency exist, The Marshall should communicate with the Grand Marshall at phone 705-345-1919, indicating the nature of the emergency, location and requirements.
CERT medical personnel will be stationed at the Carden Recreation Centre and ready to assist emergencies.

The Event Marshall must keep very close track of the time, as travel time back to the Recreation Centre is included in the event time. Persons in each group are expecting to be back at the Centre in time for their next event.
Make sure that no garbage is left at the site.

Enjoy!
